We welcome volunteers from all walks of life to contribute in various ways, including:

The Inclusive Roots Project
Volunteers can help people living with disabilities, in a big way. Join us working side by side, building raised and assessable vegetable garden beds using reclaimed and recycled materials. Together creating welcoming spaces where people can learn, contribute, and take pride in something they’ve helped build themselves.
Growing fresh vegetables offers more than just food – it builds confidence, independence, and practical life skills, while encouraging patience, responsibility, and enjoyment of the outdoors. Garden beds are built using reclaimed and recycled materials, turning items that might otherwise go to waste into practical, productive spaces for growing food.
With guidance from our team, participants help assemble raised beds that are accessible, durable, and tailored to meet the needs of people living with disability.
What makes this project special is that it has been developed by people who understand disability firsthand.
Many members of the Lion and Mouse Australia team, including our Board and support workers, have lived experience as people with disability, carers, or family members supporting loved ones with disability.
We understand the importance of creating opportunities that focus on ability, participation, and meaningful outcomes. And Volunteers are most welcome.
There are two main ways to help, growing plants at home, and sharing them with people living with disabilities (we call this Adopt a Pot). Alternatively you can help build gardens on site. Any way you can assist is appreciated.
