Grow Together. Learn Together. Thrive Together.

The Inclusive Roots Project is a community-based gardening program that brings people together through the shared experience of growing, creating, and caring for green spaces. Designed specifically for people with disabilities, the program provides opportunities to build life skills, social connections, confidence, and independence while contributing to meaningful projects that benefit the wider community.
Through hands-on activities such as planting vegetables, growing native species, creating sustainable gardening systems, establishing community gardens, and caring for the environment, participants learn practical skills in a fun, welcoming, and supportive setting. Along the way, they develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, and environmental stewardship skills that can be applied in everyday life.
The project is about more than gardening. It is about creating opportunities for people to connect with nature, contribute to their community, develop new friendships, and experience the pride that comes from seeing something grow through their own efforts. Participants may help establish food gardens, plant citrus trees, create pollinator-friendly habitats, explore bush foods and native plants, or learn sustainable gardening techniques such as composting, worm farming, and water-wise irrigation.
The Inclusive Roots Project also celebrates cultural diversity and our connection to Country by incorporating native Australian plants and creating opportunities to learn about traditional uses of local species and sustainable land care practices.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or planting your very first seed, there’s a place for everyone in The Inclusive Roots Project. Together, we’re growing stronger communities, building valuable life skills, and creating greener, more inclusive spaces for everyone to enjoy.
